Overheard...

“My parents wept, my brothers chuckled as I was swept away,
I remember my joys, my sorrows, my griefs, to this very day.
I remember the excitement, joy and unknown,
as if my departure was nothing I’d known.
That was soon forgotten as I walked down the path,
through an experience that would forever last.
As I think of it now it was a powerful thing,
My childhood was done – I could hear the fat lady sing.
Though it’s now over it’s never quite dead,
the good and the bad still live in my head.” – Excerpt from My Journey by Megan Thompson, 2002

Education: Workshops, Retreats & Trainings on Rites of Passage

creating coming of age programs for organizations

In the spirit of creating community and increasing the availability of rite of passage experiences, Journeys offers adult education in coming of age program development, methodology, and mentorship.  After spending decades building expertise in creating rites of passage, Journeys was approached to share our experience with others working in schools, churches, social service agencies, and community organizations.

Since the early 1990s, we have worked with dozens of schools, churches, and community youth organizations to provide an understanding of the “what, why, and how” of creating a coming of age program. These seeds of learning have sprouted into a number of programs throughout the United States and in Canada.

Now, we present various workshops to train others in our methods, and to assist other organizations in bringing rites of passage into their programming. Join Journeys for one hour or many days to learn how you can bring rites of passage into your community, and to deepen the skills necessary to help individuals along their life path.
