Artemis Adventure

Girls, Ages 11-13  | July 30th, 2026 - August 6th, 2026

preparing GIRLS as they approach their transition to young adulthood.

The journey from girlhood to young womanhood is both beautiful and complex. In a world full of noise and distraction, it can be easy to lose sight of one's true path. For girls today, it is vital to have intentional time and space to step away from the demands of everyday life and begin the powerful process of becoming.

Inspired by Artemis—the wild and wise huntress, protector of young women, and goddess of the moon—Artemis Adventure offers girls ages 11–13 a unique opportunity to connect with their inner strength, intuition, and sense of direction. Over the course of 8 days in the wilderness, girls are invited to step into a circle of peers and women mentors, to explore what it means to grow, to lead, and to belong.

Just as Artemis drew her bow and let her arrow fly with purpose, so too do the girls begin to shape their own intentions and direction. A small portion will be spent learning the art of archery which will become more than just practice with a bow—it becomes a metaphor for focus, courage, and alignment with one’s inner truth. Through challenge, reflection, and the steady rhythm of nature, they learn to trust themselves and each other. Free from the pull of screens and expectations, they begin to hear their own voice more clearly and to feel the power of being fully present.

This is not just a trip. It is a calling. A moment to pause, take aim, and step forward with confidence into the next chapter.

As participants connect with nature, share authentically in talking circles, and learn life enriching skills, they will discover a new found sense of who they want to be in the world. At journey’s end, each will bring home with them the gift of a unique story to share with their family and wider community.

If your daughter is 13 years old and wants a more challenging trip and is truly ready to fully step out of childhood and embrace life as a young adult (adolescent), we offer Mountain Quest for Young Women, a 3 week backpacking Coming of Age program.

Trip Description

Artemis Adventure participants, their families, and our staff gather for an opening circle at Journey’s basecamp, marking the beginning of this meaningful rite of passage. Together, we take time to honor the threshold the girls are crossing, surrounded by support and intention.

From there, the group begins their preparations: engaging in community-building activities, learning foundational backpacking and wilderness living skills, and setting personal intentions. These early days are rooted in connection—to self, to others, and to the spirit of Artemis, the ancient symbol of strength, independence, and guardianship. As part of this initiation, the girls are introduced to the bow and arrow—not only as a physical skill, but as a practice in focus, patience, and purposeful action, echoing the clarity and strength they are cultivating within.

Then, the journey truly begins. The group sets out for a 6-day backpacking expedition into the wild and awe-inspiring landscapes of Olympic National Park. Away from the distractions of modern life, the girls have space to grow, reflect, and rise to the challenges of the trail—each step guided by their inner arrow.

When the wilderness chapter comes to a close, the group returns to basecamp, where families and loved ones are waiting to welcome them home. In a heartfelt closing ceremony, stories are shared, accomplishments honored, and each girl is celebrated for the courage and growth she carries forward into the path ahead.
