Mountain Quest: 50 Miles to Manhood

For 50 years, Rite of Passage Journeys has been guiding transformative, wilderness-based Coming of Age programs for young people to mark their transition into adulthood. Coming of Age in the Olympic Wilderness

Rite of Passage Journeys has led Coming of Age trips for youth since 1968. The cornerstone of our organization is this wilderness backpacking program, where we use adventure to teach young men and women about leadership, community, self-knowledge, and connection to nature.

Meaningful, community-recognized rites of passage for young people could be the key to our survival as a species. This talk was given at TEDxSnoIsleLibraries 2016 in Edmonds, Washington. http://www.sno-isle.org/tedx Darcy spent her college years studying anthropology and sociology to develop an understanding of culture and social change theory.
