Getting Ready For Your Program

Plan to be outdoors for the entirety of the program and be sure to bring:

  • A packed lunch and snacks for the first half of the day. Dinner for the first night (outdoor kitchen available). Breakfast for the following morning.

  • Tent and sleeping gear for camping at Journeys’ basecamp.

  • Small daypack.

  • Insulated / mudproof shoes or boots with thick warm socks highly encouraged.

  • Warm gloves, and also thin gloves for dexterity, are a good idea.

  • A bench cushion if you want one (we might be sitting on the ground).

  • A Notebook and pencil/pen

  • A knife if you have one (we have plenty if you don’t).

  • If you have a ‘primitive’ tool for firemaking (friction kit, steel striker, piston, etc) bring it along!

  • You need not bring matches or a lighter!

  • Binoculars (optional).
